Bragging Rights Forever: Setting an Official Guinness World Record
The secret (or not-so-secret) dream of many taking part in a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt offers an unforgettable experience for you, your family, friends, and neighbors. Join us for Yogi’s Big Catch Challenge and you’ll be part of history, commemorating the centennial of one of our most beloved national icons while having a blast alongside thousands of others.
What will it take?
Breaking the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ record for the Largest Game of Catch (baseball/softball) requires a minimum of 973 pairs – or 1,946 participants – playing catch simultaneously for five minutes. (Don’t worry. It’s okay to drop the ball.)
How will it work?
Our official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt will take place in Yogi Berra Stadium, directly adjacent to the Museum, with pairs organized on the ballfield and concourse in assigned positions, 3 meters (9’ 10”) apart from one another.
What’s in a Day?
The timing of our GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt commemorates one day before Yogi played his first game in the Major Leagues in 1946. (He hit a home run!) It was also the day before he passed away, ten years ago, in 2015.
What’s in a Game?
Having a catch is so much more than throwing a ball back and forth. There’s a magical feeling of connection with your partner. You’re completely in the shared moment, a rare experience in today’s world.
Come play with us.
